Hailing from Castlemaine, a small township deep inside the Victorian bush, D.D. Dumbo’s reverb-soaked songs erupt in thunderous rhythm and euphoric drone. Minimal in structure and complemented by Perry’s astonishing voice, they subtly reference traditional stylings from around the globe such as African desert blues, Tanzanian ilimba and transcendental Tuvan melody. His first release on 4AD was 2014’s Tropical Oceans EP, before shows with Tame Impala, Laura Marling and Daughter cemented him as one to watch. His debut album, ‘Utopia Defeated’, is out now via 4AD.
