Lightwave Empire is the primary musical identity of Copenhagen’s Bjarke Niemann whose creative partner is noted American and multiple Grammy award winning producer Dave Sardy (Oasis, Marilyn Manson, LCD Soundsystem). 2017 sees Bjarke relocating to Los Angeles and the release of Lightwave Empire’s debut album Heart of Noise. The band (which also includes Anders Christiansen) made their debut with an enormous show at Roskilde Festival (one of Europe’s largest) in 2016 and the video for “Pleasure And Pain”, directed by the noted Anders Malmburg was premiered by Noisey who called it “marvelous”. Upcoming single “Sundown” will be launched with Big Deal Music this Spring. In addition to Lightwave Empire, Bjarke collaborates with internationally noted fashion designer Rasmus Bak in Death Has No Dominion. Their atmospheric debut album was released to great acclaim in 2014 and the follow up is expected in the summer of 2017. The video for “Coming Like A Hurricane” is a spectacular visual piece Bjarke Niemann is also a composer and multi-instrumentalist, and really much more than that. As a composer he is a go-to for the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (the Danish equivalent of the BBC). He is recognized as a video game composer best known for his collaboration with IO-Interactive on the successful game “Hitman”. He has worked consistently with acclaimed director Michael Noer including both the 2013 feature Northwest and a spot for the Danish national soccer team. He has also teamed up on composition with Dave Sardy who has scored multiple #1 films including 21 and Zombieland. All told, including previous bands Spleen United and Pantherman, Bjarke Niemann’s collective output ranges from abstract compositions to electronic rock. He won a Danish Grammy for Spleen United in 2013 and has been recognized on multiple occasions by the Danish Arts Council.
