BIG DEAL and GRNDVW partner up!!!

Pat Magnarella Management today announced it has relaunched as GRNDVW and expanded to offer record label and publishing services through strategic partnerships with The Orchard and Big Deal Music. Veteran music managers Pat Magnarella and Graham Martin will serve as co-presidents of the company’s new label and publishing branches, and continue to manage artists alongside longtime colleagues Chris Georggin and Steve Masi. “With the ever changing music landscape, we felt it was time to evolve,” shared Martin. “We want GRNDVW to function as a full-service music company, not just a management company. The ability offer label and publishing services allows us to work with a more diverse roster of artists, both large and small, in a variety of capacities.” “I’m excited to start this new chapter of PMM, INC. under the new name GRNDVW,” added Magnarella. “As managers, we handle every detail of our clients’ careers, so starting GRNDVW is a natural extension of what we already do. I’m excited for our team to start this exciting new journey.”

GRNDVW’s management roster includes: Beach Goons, Courtship, Flor, Goo Goo Dolls, Jagwar Twin, Kulick, Layne, Pepper, Quicksand, Rise Against, SWMRS, and The Story So Far. On August 24, 2018, The company’s released its first full length album, Beach Goons’ hoodratscumbag. In the coming months, GRNDVW is expected to release full length albums from Fences and No Parents.

Over the last two decades, Pat Magnarella has distinguished himself as a visionary manager with a solid track record for spotting talent and nurturing successful long-term careers. He was recruited into management by industry legend Bob Cavallo in 1990, and joined Mosaic Media Group in 1999. Since 2004, he has operated his Pat Magnarella Management company, a full service agency that provides a broad range of management, branding, and marketing services. Magnarella has guided the careers of artists including Weezer, The All-American Rejects, and Green Day, and continues to work closely with some of the biggest names in music today.

Graham Martin began his career at Rolling Stone Magazine in the ad sales department in 2000 before moving to Interscope Geffen A&M Records, where he first served as a Video Production Coordinator, before moving on to the A&R Department. In 2004 he transitioned into management, working under David “Beno” Benveniste at Velvet Hammer Music Management. There he worked for clients including Deftones and Alice and Chains, in addition to overseeing touring and merchandise business for much of company’s roster. In 2010 he was promoted to General Manager of the company. Martin joined Pat Magnarella Management in 2014.

Headquartered in Encinitas, CA, the company’s new moniker (pronounced “grand view”) is a nod to nearby Grandview Beach surf break.

Big Deal inks JV with Ricky Reed’s ‘Nice Life’!!

Indie publisher Big Deal Music Group has entered a joint venture deal with Nice Life Copyright Company, the music publishing company founded by producer-writer-artist Ricky Reed.

Under the new agreement, Big Deal will administer songs for Nice Life, and the publishers will team up to sign new talent. Already, new signings include writer-producer Tele, who co-wrote and co-produced Lizzo‘s smash “Truth Hurts,” and writer-producers King Garbage, who co-wrote For The Throne track “Power Is Power” by The WeekndSZA and Travis Scott.

“One of the founding principles of Big Deal was the desire to work with close friends to build a home for songwriters and artists,” said Big Deal co-president Casey Robison. “In that same vein, Ricky and I go back many, many years, so to be able to combine our teams and sign and develop new talent with such a close friend is really an extension of the family ethos that drives both of our companies.”

Reed has worked with the likes of HalseyLeon BridgesTwenty One Pilots, The Weeknd and SZA, and was nominated for producer of the year at the 2017 Grammy Awards. He’s a close collaborator of Lizzo, who is signed to his Nice Life Recording Company through Atlantic Records, and co-wrote and produced seven tracks off her 2019 breakthrough album Cuz I Love You including “Truth Hurts.”

“Casey and his partners at Big Deal have created an incredibly special, nurturing environment for songwriters and artists,” Reed added. “As I continue to build a platform for new songwriters and artists through Nice Life, I can’t think of anyone I’d rather partner with than my friend Casey and the rest of the Big Deal family.”

BDMG Film + TV Exec’s Promoted!!

Big Deal Music Group CEO, Kenny MacPherson announced that the company has promoted Joe Maggini to the position of Senior Vice President, Head of Global Synch and Danielle Levy to the position of Vice President, Synch – Film + TV at the company.

The two were formerly Vice President and Director, Synch, respectively.

Maggini joined Big Deal Music Group in 2017, after a successful run as head of Format Music Solutions, a label, music publisher, custom music creation business and an orchestral trailer library. He previously served as Director of Creative at Universal Music Publishing and Director of Writer-Publisher Relations at BMI.

Levy, who brings with her to the role more than a decade of music licensing experience, joined Big Deal Music in 2016, after a number of years as a Creative Manager at Zync Music.

Commenting on the promotions, MacPherson said: “Joe has done a tremendous job leading our Synch Department, generating powerful opportunities for our songwriters.” He added, “Ever since her arrival, Danielle has made a huge difference for us. Her deep relationships within the Film and TV industry and her intuitive sense of where our writers fit have made her a valuable member of the team.  Joe and Danielle are both very deserving of these new roles at the company.

Big Deal Music Group Names Casey Robison & Jamie Cerreta Co-Presidents

Big Deal Music Group CEO Kenny MacPherson announced the appointments of Jamie Cerreta and Casey Robison as the company’s first Co-Presidents.    Kenny MacPherson assumes the new role of chief executive officer.  All three execs will remain based at the company’s Los Angeles headquarters. MacPherson and Cerreta formed Big Deal Music in 2012 alongside Dave Ayers, all former colleagues at Chrysalis Music Publishing. Meanwhile, Robison began his own career at Chrysalis — with the very same team he’ll now help lead.
